Clutch system

If you drive a car with a manual transmission, every time you change gear you have to press the clutch, so the car clutch is an integral part of the transmission system. But what if it starts and has problems and how will you know?

Initially, you will notice the following indications:

Difficulty shifting gears. If you're having trouble selecting a certain gear, or shifting is generally difficult, your clutch may be slipping and struggling to cut power from the flywheel/flywheel to the wheels.

Vibrating clutch pedal. Strange noises are heard when you press the clutch: the car's clutch discs inside the assembly rub against each other and create the characteristic screeching noise you hear when shifting gears.

Burning smell. The clutch generates heat and friction when you shift gears. The clutch disc itself is made of a friction material similar to that of brake pads. If the disc doesn't make enough contact, friction will build up between the disc and the flywheel/flywheel, causing the disc to wear quickly, and the disc will likely start to smell burnt as it heats up.

Vehicle shuddering or jerking usually during acceleration. This is because the clutch wears out and starts to slip.

What is the average cost to change a clutch?

The car clutch price depends on the make, model and version of your vehicle. On average, you can expect to pay around 200 to 700 euros, including parts and labor.
